2nd Wedding

16 December 2010

This job can only get easyer. I was so much more relaxed with my secound wedding. I really enjoyed this wedding. I learnt how your backround can make or break your photograph. As it was another pleasent rainy day on the east coast we had to look for another location to shoot the creative shoot appose to the beach or park. We decided that we would take the photos at the reception and honeymoon suite, the best decision ever. We got some stunning images. I wish i could post some more up but here are just a few from that day.

Most interesting shoot

11 December 2010

As a photographer you have to be ready for anything that is thrown at. This shoot was a totally new experience for me but i was so happy with the outcome of the images. I use alot of creative lighting in this shoot which added to the whole atmosphere and mood that i was going for. I post edited the images in photoshop and changed the saturation, i think the effect fits these images best. You have to expect the unexpected when it comes to photography but if you ready for it you will get the most amaing pictures.

Joe Macnally

One of my photography Gurus

We were given a project at college to research a famous photographer, I picked Joe Macnally.
Joe is an american photogrpher, he works in New York city.As part of his marketing Joe did alot of work for the American Ballet Company. This interested me right away as i am an ex dancer. I think his ballet portraits are fantastic. He takes ballet out the studio and creates a totally different image of ballet and ballerinas. He is amazingly creative.
Another thing that attracted me to Joe's work is his use of lighting. He has some of the most amazing lighting effects that i have ever seen. He really thinks out of the box. I would love to understand how he creates such stunning pieces of art. I hope to have atleast half of his talent and skill one day.
Here are just a few of my favourite images from some of his work. You have to check this guy out.
( 1st image is Joe Macnally)

1st Baby shoot

20 September 2010

I was so amazed at how this shoot turned out. Babies are not easy to photograph as you cant tell them how to sit ect. The whole photo shoot is based on moments. The photographer has to be ready all the time because when the baby smiles or laughs you have to capture that moment before it slips away. I really enjoyed the shoot because you get to play around a little bit aswell as work. I got some amazing shots and really experimented with lighting. Looking so forward to my next baby shoot.

Jewellery

1st Jewellery shoot

wow this shoot was difficult. There is so much one has to think of when photographing jewellery. The hardest part of this shoot for me was making sure that the colour of the stones was correct. I learnt so much about jewellery from this photoshoot and no doubt it will help me with future jewellery shoots.

Portraiture

If i had to choose one genre of photography to call my favourite it would be portraiture. Every person has a different character and it is up to the photographer to capture that character and portray it in the form of an image. This is just some of my portrait work that i have done. Mood is very important to me. I create mood by changing the angel and possision of my lighting. I would like to experiment more with portraiture and improve my skill.

Fashion

Fashion photography has to be one of my favourite parts of photography as i can be as creative as i want. I love trying new things and experimenting and fashion allows me to do things my way. It is also very challenging as your model is the key focus.I really enjoy shooting fashion. I still need to grow alot more in the fashion genre of photography, there is alot more to learn and i am very excited to see the end result. I have posted a few images of fashion photography that i have alreay done.

Indian Culture

August
College Project 2

We were given the topic ' Indian Culture ' and to reaserch and photograph the indian culture from a students perception. This project really took me out of my comfort bubble. I decided to visit the Victory street market in durban to get some commercial images of the spices and foods that the indian culture is famous for.It was a totally new experience but very educational at the same time. The Indian culture is so rich in colour and texture which made for some stunning images. This was the most difficult project i have had to do but it all adds to the experience of my photography career.

Baby Makes Her Blue jeans Talk

16 March 2010
1st College project
We were given the topic 'baby makes her blue jeans talk' and could interpret it in anyway we wanted.
I decied to interpret it in the way of a high fashion shoot.I chose to go with a rustic harsh backround and the bothas Hill train station was exactly what i had in mind.I used available ligh and a reflector to create flat lighting on  my model as it was the wrong time of day. I was very happy with the way my project turned out. I learnt alot from the outcome of my project and have sinse improved. But one has to crawl before they can walk.
