Jess Foord

Recently we was given the task of photographing images that would be possible canvas printings for a room that would be designed around the Jess Foord foundation. The images had to included nature only as well as a certain set of colours. The whole idea of the room was to create a calm and relaxing environment where one could feel safe and at ease. I took on this task with a partner, Jordan-lee Garbutt. Together we came up with some amazing ideas and were able to execute them to the best of out ability. I was very happy with the outcome of the task.

Here features both myself and Jordan's Images and ideas.

Fashion shoot- May

I am most fascinated when it comes to fashion. There is so much that one can do and it becomes overwhelming sometimes. I needed to practice my skill in fashion so i called up an old friend and arranged to do a fashion shoot in an old burnt down cotton factory. The shoot went very well. I played around with different ideas to see what worked and what did not work. I had great fun learning. I put my images through Photoshop to enhance them and this is my final product.

Something Old, Something New

One of the projects we got given in second year was to photograph something old and something new in the same image. Challenging... I came up with the idea to use a seed that is beginning to sprout and place it around old objects eg old telephone, broken building etc. I really enjoyed photographing something different to the normal. I used natural lighting for most if the images but I did add a bit of flash light in.  I think my images have a lot of symbolic meaning that something new will grow from something old, that there is always hope. You just have to see its potential and nurture it into something big.

Nike Project

Nike Advertising Project

This has to be by far one of my favourite projects that i have had to do. We had to come up with new ideas on how to advertise for Nike. I chose to base my project around the sport of ballet. I chose to run with the theme of female strengh behind the beauty. Being an ex dancer this theme excited me to the limit. I decided to shoot the dancers both in and out of the studio. I tried to add a twist to the normal ballet images that we see everyday. I edited the logo in and tweaked the images a little. I am very happy with the overall outcome of my project. I have so many great ideas for ballet photography, so watch this space...

MidLands

27 Feb 2011

The Family decided to take a drive through the Midlands meander in KZN. I saw this as a perfect opportunity to get some amazing country shots. The Midland has such beautiful scenery and such amazing potential. It is deffinitly one of my favourite place in the South Africa. Using minimal equipment and keeping everything simple i was able to capture some great shots. I really enjoyed the challenge. I love Photography.

Playing Around

My Family and I went down to the beach one sunday, naturally i took my camera with to get a few shots of the event. I was amazed by the afternoon sun and decided to play with the ambient light. Its so important to know your camera and what its abilities are. I learnt alot from my little experementation session. After our outing i came home and edited the pictures, i decided to create an over exposed kind of look by desatuating the colours and brightning my picture. I was quiet pleased with the outcome and i learnt abit more about light.
